Our Single Point of Contact has gone!
25th March 2004. Bradley Borum gives me the sad news.
| Six months ago BT set up a single point of contact for MK residents
while many of the company's systems were still being refined and the
TPON issue in Monkston was being addressed. Today MK has its own
champions inside BT; John Small and Bradley Borum, and the number of
calls and emails to our single point of contact, Serena, have dwindled
to two or three a week. BT have now closed this point of contact. This
was muted at our last meeting with BT.
BT no longer believe a separate single point of contact
for MK citizens is necessary and are keen to ensure that all customer
contacts are handled through established channels.
Finally, we may have lost a single point of contact, but we've gained a
senior manager who works full time on MK with a team. We're also told
that changes and improvements are imminent as a result of a concerted
focus on MK.
The group will continue to meet with BT at regular intervals for
updates on their work, and for general questions and answers.

BT Misconception
I get many emails from MK residents frustrated with BT. They expect BT to be
like the old GPO, a government department with a slightly paternal caring side.
(Some others are more cruel, muttering about dead man's shoes.)
No. BT is a plc. It correctly has only one responsibility: its shareholders.
This misconception is beyond the scope of campaigning for Broadband in Milton
Keynes, but it regularly crops up.
The world has moved on: OFTEL / OFCOM, local loop unbundling...
I've asked Serena to help. Here is her reply:
