I fell into a trap where the TDK Mobile application would not connect to the T68i Mobile. And would give me some mental torment too!
This is what I did. After a couple of attempts I learn how to connect correctly without the anguish!
I choose to pair the pc to the phone:

The PC's ready. I don't click OK. I set the phone to be "discoverable". It says "discoverable for 3 minutes". I click OK.
I click "accept" on the phone.
I enter the passkey.
The phone says "connecting", then the menu clears. That all looks good!
I test. I make a connection to the T68i serial communications port, just as the TDK Mobile application would.

It doesn't work!
Unpair and try again!

Pair...

The PC's ready. I click OK.

Oh dear. I forgot to set the phone to be discoverable! Silly me.

The PC's ready. I don't click OK. I set the phone to be "discoverable". It says "discoverable for 3 minutes". I click OK.
I click "add to paired" on the phone
I enter the passkey
The phone says "connecting", then "pairing succeeded", then
"phone added to paired devices". the menu clears. That all looks good!
I test. I make a connection to the T68i serial communications port, just as the TDK Mobile application would.

Yes it works!

I can also open the fax modem too!
We can now use the TDK Mobile Application. You must disconnect serial port 1 if you performed the steps above - otherwise the TDK Mobile Application won't be able to use it.
Look what happens if you don't:

What a daft stupid message. The app should say "the serial port is in use" or something - not just guess. It may as well say "it's raining outside".
Then we get torture:

The software accuses me! I retaliate!
No I haven't selected anything. You have got confused. I will continue. I've spent several hundred quid on this setup, and I will continue.
Anyway I have no choice. Try clicking No - and I get back to the connection dialog that I cannot close.
I must click yes...
So DON'T connect to a serial port in explorer, unless it's a test. You test; then disconnect. Then the TDK Mobile Application will be happy!
Doing a "AT+cpbr=1,99" using typerterminal gets the phonebook dumped to the pc a lot quicker than the TDK Mobile Application. Some optimisation there I think!
